Miracle-Gro Float, Rose Parade

New Year's Day 2016

My year started off with a big "bang" after being selected to ride and symbolically represent California gardening on the Miracle-Gro Float New Year's Day in Pasadena. The float was so beautiful, incorporating several themes; 1) Certified California Grown (CA Grown) with 100% of the flowers, seeds, and materials grown in California, 2) California Spanish Missions representing the past, present, and future of the rich agricultural history of California, 3) Nature's pollinators in the form of birds, bees, and butterflies, and 4) Drought-tolerant plants.

Miracle-Gro is the Official Rose and Flower Care Company of the Tournament of Roses for the fourth year in a row. This year was special as their float won the Governor's Trophy--Best Depiction of Life in California. This historic parade draws one million spectators along the parade route and approximately 82 million television viewers.

We first "meet and greet" at a cozy local Parisian-style bakery for coffee and croissants. A ten minute drive, and we are at Domaine de Manion. Your class begins with a garden and vineyard tour while gathering some fresh ingredients for our lunch. Next we head into "my French kitchen" for a cooking class/demonstration, and a leisurely lunch. After lunch there is a chance to shop. Everyone leaves with take-home recipes, and colorful memories.

Classes are generally 9:30am - 2pm. Cost is $150.00 per person. You can sign up online at Cooking Classes. Sign up with a friend or a loved one--to share this experience with you and receive a special discount. For information and questions, contact Bonnie at (760) 402-7600.
